Information for Craft Vendors

Welcome to another year and another Whole Earth Festival season! Thank you for your interest in this year's festival. The Whole Earth Festival is an educational fair. Education is achieved not only through non-profit booths, but also through organic food, music and handmade crafts. Just the presence of craft booths is educational because they are an alternative to the mass produced, sweatshop, corporate world. This year, in order for the craft vendors to further participate in the educational process, they have the opportunity to go that extra mile and do demonstrations and workshops of their craft. The Whole Earth Festival is also an environmentally conscious fair. We would like to include vendors who are also environmentally aware.

Therefore, we like to see an emphasis on environmentally friendly items. This means more organics, more sustainably harvested and recycled goods.

Please take the time to read and complete the following application. Please include how your craft can bring both education and environmental awareness to the festival. I would also love to hear about where you get your materials and how you make your wares.

2009 WEF Craft Booth Coordinator: Maya McNeil

Please note that the applications for 2009 will due February 9th for the early deadline and no later than February 21st. . The festival is May 8, 9, & 10th 2009.

Important dates and details
The 2009 Whole Earth Festival is on May , 8, 9 & 10 on the UC Davis Quad.

The application fee for applications postmarked by February 9 is $15.

The application fee for applications mailed after February 9 is $25. These applications must be in house by 5:00 pm February 21st. Due to the Crafts Jury held shortly after deadline, there will be no more applications accepted after this date, no exceptions.

The booth fee for each 10'x10' space is $375. You may apply for a 20'x10' space with a fee of $725. There will be no booths larger than 20'x10' due to fire regulations.

This year we will be introducing a new vendor booth option!  called the Communal Vendors’ Bizaar! (Name subject to change and suggestions)  This is for vendors with a smaller craft (fits a 5+ foot table space) that are unable to afford the entire $375 booth fee. Please do not apply to this is you can afford a regular space. This has been created to encourage local, low budget, or new crafters that want to try their hand at selling what they love to create. The Communal Booth space will cost $175, and we shall provide a table space if you need it (please specify) and a shade covering. You will be in a market-like setting (20’x20’+) with other communal space vendors. This is a first come first serve basis, so please specify if you would like a regular booth in the case that the Communal Vendor’s Bizaar is full.

University insurance rates for all types of vendors will be $50.58. If you have your own general liability insurance, please ask your insurance carrier to add "The Regents of the University of California" under the "also insured" section of your policy. Proof of this insurance will need to be provided. Homeowner's insurance will not be accepted.

UC Davis requires proof of automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000 to anyone bringing a vehicle to the festival.

You should know by the end of March whether or not you have been accepted to the festival.

Booth fees and insurance must be postmarked by April 6.

All fees must be paid by cashier's check or money order. No personal checks will be accepted!
