Fellow Community Members, Soon, it will again be time for Davis to celebrate the Whole Earth Festival. In keeping with this year's theme of "Mending Our Web", I am organizing a series of workshops and discussions focused on the appropriate development, use, and transfer of technology. These workshops will ideally serve to both educate festival attendees about the existence and relative impacts of their technological choices, as well as to help organize individuals, groups, and institutions acting within the green local economy. Thanks to generous support from the Campus Center for the Environment, we will be kicking off the first evening of WEF with a presentation from Kevin Danaher of Global Exchange, sharing with us his experienced insights into the development and support of green local economies in an increasingly globalized world. It would be great if we could pack the Coffee House for this event, so please spread the word far and wide. The schedule and promotional fliers for Kevin's talk and other Appropriate Technology events are attached to this e-mail. The green economy seems to be greatly dependent upon the empowerment of an organized community. If you have the ability to contribute to such a community through advertisement, workshop participation, or resource donation, please let me know. Appropriately,
Bryan Jungers
