Fire University

Making an appearance at the Whole Earth Festival for its 3rd year in a row, Fire University is a local fire-community dedicated to sharing the awe and wonder that is fire – for FREE! FirePLAY! has been held every Thursday evening for two years on the “E” Street plaza in Davis. We are self-sustaining, cannot be “hired”, and do not accept donations. Various artists will be opening the Promethean Stage on both Friday and Saturday evening.

Obsidian Butterfly

Friday evening 9:00-9:30PM

Obsidian Butterfly is a performance ARTART troupe that uses different modalities of ARTART as a form of creative self-expression, healing, and spiritual growth. We create performances that weave our many talents into one production. Our shows are an alchemical blend of ecstatic expression through movement and dance, poetic storytelling, music, fire, ritual, ancient mystery, and everyday life. No show is the same. We are community oriented and welcome anyone who wishes to learn or express themselves through any form of ARTART. The end result is a beautiful dance and a mind blowing experience.

Flux

Friday evening 9:30-10:00PM

Flux is a fire performance troupe with members from across northern California. We specialize in technical fire-spinning with a wide variety of props, as well as choreographed fire-dancing. Kinetica Saturday evening 9:00-9:30PM For eons, fire has provided humans a source of light, warmth and entertainment. Its primal nature stirs passions that go beyond rational explanation. Cutting edge object manipulation with graceful dance and acrobatics, Kinetica, a Santa Cruz based fire troupe, provides its own unique take on playing with fire. Solar Flare Saturday evening 9:30-10:00PM Solar Flare is a fire dance performance troupe based in San Francisco and Davis. A group of both seasoned performers and new fire aficionados, we weave choreographed and improvisational dance with flaming staves, hula hoops, poi, and fans to create a magical and breathtaking display. Fire breathing, eating, and fleshing push the limits of possibility and imagination.
